Day 74: Dad's Birthday
Today was our second day travelling from Darwin to Kakadu. We left early that morning and stopped at Mary River National Park for breakfast.
On our way out of the park we came across a very rare sighting, we saw the endangered species of Black Cockatoos.
We kept driving for 3hrs before we came across the Bark Hut, a caravan park right on the edge of Kakadu.
When we finished getting lunch, we got back on the road because Kakadu's border was only a couple of km up the road. We eventually got to the border and had a look at the big monument. Mum took some photos.
We left there and then went to Jabiru, a very familiar town because it's in the centre of Kakadu. We stocked up there and then went to look at what Kakadu was most famous for, wetlands. We dropped the van off at a place and decided we would stay there for the night, we then went to the Yellow River just down the road. When we got there, there was a TV crew there and were doing something. We took zome photos of the place.
We also saw a couple of animals there too.
After that we went to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre a couple of km down the road.
After that it was home time and we started to make a fire, except mum, she did the cooking.
We sat around the fire for dinner then it was bed time.
