Day 12: The Great Rawnsley Park Station

When we got up that morning, we felt down because we couldn’t attend a church service for Good Friday as the churches in the town didn’t have the ministers coming to town, so we headed off for our destination for tonight, Rawnsley Park Station. Rawnsley is just outside Hawker, so we found out we could go to the Christian Fellowship Church for Easter Sunday. We arrived at Rawnsley Station for 3 nights, so as soon as we got there we set up the annex. After we set up the annex, I got some firewood for the fireplace, and the fireplace had a cooking plate over it so we cooked onions and potatoes on it. I sat outside enjoying a drink of lemonade and a yummy dinner in front of the fire when dad came out and said to me that we were going on a 5 hour walk in the morning so we had to get ready now. So I quickly got ready for the morning then went straight to bed before dad made me do something else I really wasn’t looking forward to.

Day 11: No Descent Church

We got up early that morning and headed off to Quorn. We arrived at Quorn and visited the information centre. We found out we could stay at Quorn for the night so we did. We stayed at the Eco Caravan Park. After we settled in, mum and I went into town and did some shopping and had a look at the churches. Unfortunately we couldn’t find a descent place to go to church on Good Friday, there was one place we could go to but it didn’t start till 3:00 in the afternoon, and we weren’t staying that long. So we finished off our shopping and headed home. After we got home we had dinner and went to bed.

Day 10: New Places To See

Today was fun because we were going to go through Port Pirie, a place I was really looking forward to. When we got to Port Pirie we went straight to the information centre, but then we decided to go fill up on fuel first. But dad went straight   past the diesel and went to another petrol station down the road, so mum and I went to the information centre while dad filled up. After that we went to Port Germaine that has the longest wooden jetty in Australia, I went all the way across to the other side and back, no one else did. That night we wanted to stay at Germaine Gorge, but we missed the turn-offso we stayed the night at a little spot called Bangor

Day 9: The Real Adventure Begins

After and had breakfast dad and I decided to make a fire in the fireplace. It we got up took us a while to get the fire wood because there weren’t many sticks, leaves or kiddling. After we got it started, dad went off to do something and he left me in charge of keeping the fire under control. The fire was under control for about another hour then we put it out and I decided to dig a big hole. In the end my hole ended up to be 1 foot deep and 2 feet wide but then we had to go. That night we settled in a campsite outside of  Peterborough  pretty early for the night, it was about 8:00 before we went to bed. It was practically dinner then bed.

Day 8: Leaving Broken Hill At Last

Today was our last day at Broken Hill! Hoorah! It was the best day of my life, except one little bad thing, mum’s cousin. We had to go see them before we left, it was so sad, I was going to miss them. I had to wait at mum’s cousins while they went shopping. The good thing about mum’s cousin is she's nice and she has tea and biscuits. After about 3 hours of  waiting, mum and dad finally came to pick me up. We were driving into the sunset when we left Broken Hill so we couldn’t go far so we stopped at Wawirra Creek Rest Area. The place had no toilet. We had dinner and went to bed.

Day 5,6 And 7:In Broken Hill For A Long Time

On the fifth day, we got up and got ready to go see mum's cousin who she hasn't seen in her adult life. It was a pretty long drive to be exact(I hate travelling long distances). When we there, we drank tea and ate hot cross buns. Fortunately, I was allowed to watch their TV, so I watched ABC3. We stayed there for the whole day, it was ok staying there for that long but I met someone new. The long trip home was annoying because we did something on the way home that took like an hour. We eventually got home and hung around there for a while before having dinner. After having dinner, dad and I went into the annex and mucked around on the ipad and laptop, I played games on the ipad and dad did work on the laptop. After that it was nearly 10:00 so we settled in for the night.

The sixth day was fun because I got to stay at home by myself for the whole day, the reason for that is because, mum and dad were going out with my mum's cousin to a pub that didn't allow kids under 18 years of age. The only thing I did that day was either play the ipad or computer, sometimes i'd play with Rosie, our little maltese terrior, or read. My mum and dad eventually got home but then said they were going nback out to do some stuff, I thought, yes I get some more time to myself. But I was wrong, it actually got boring without them, so I watched some movies such as, Scooby Doo and the Goblin King and The Karate Kid 3. By the time they were over, my mum and dad came home for good. We watched one more movie which was Dr Dolittle 5 while having dinner. After that we hit the hay.

The seventh day was fun, it was fun because we went to the pub, having a lemonade and playing the ipad, the other fun part was we had to do all that with mum's cousin. It was an ok day, but the best part of the day was being left at mum's cousins house while they went sight seeing. I was allowed to watch TV so I was happy. My mum and dad finally came and picked me up and we went home, had dinner and went to bed.

Day 4:Small Silverton, But Lots To See

In the morning,I slept in till about 8:30 and got breakfast in bed. After that we headed out to Silverton to explore properly and thoroughly. The first place we went to was the old school, it was very cool to see the school and not go into it to work. Then we moved onto the old church, lodge and ruins, they were very great, especially the ruins. After that was done, we headed over to the Mad Max Mueseum, the cafe and the tea room. The Mad Max Mueseum was the best in that area. After that we headed down to the pub and  shop. As you might guess, the souvenir shop was the best there. That was the end of the first section of town. We headed off to the old gaol. I took millions of photos there. We stayed there for about 2 hours, so that took up most of our day. So that was the end of Silverton, we headed back to the park to get ready to go to Broken Hill. We spent the night at Broken Hill. Dinner was sausages and veges which was yummy. We stayed up till about 9:30, then went to bed.

Day 3:Beautiful Sunset And New Friends

That morning, we did the same routine as the previous morning. It took us about 2 hours to get to Wilcannia, that was when mum got out of the car aned took photos of silos. Then it took us around about 3 hours to get to Broken Hill.We were in lots of trouble because there was too much diesel coming out of the engine, so we went in search of a toyota place so they could fix it. We eventually found one but heard some bad news, most of their workers had quit and gone mining, so we left there and went in search of car mechanics. We found one, but the same problem had occured there to, workers had quit and gone mining, so we left and went searching for the last time. We found another mechanic and heard good news, he was able to fix the car. The only problem was, he had to do it on Monday and it was Wednesday, so we decided to go to Silverton and stay there the night. Three quarters of an hour later we were in the Penrose Caravan Park in Silverton and unpacking the van. After we finished unpacking, we went into town to explore. We eventually returned from our exploration half an hour later. The exploration wasn't proper but it was fun. We decided to go to the Mundi Mundi Scenic Lookout at sunset, so we mucked around and got ready. When the time finally came, dad and I weren't ready, so mum hastled us. We eventually went and got there in about 5 mins. Alot of people were there already and among those people we meet our first really good friends, their names were Dona, Brad, Elsie and Max(a mum, dad, daughter and son)they came from Geelong and were heading to Camerans Corner. We stayed there for about an hour then left to go to the pub. We talked and talked and talked till about 8:30. After that we went back to Penrose Park and had dinner which was cooked tomato, eggs and sausages. After dinner we stayed up a little longer, then went to bed.

Day 2: We Hit The Outback

The next morning we got up at 6:00 and left, we were out of there at about 6:30. We travelled nearly all day, except for that time we went shopping at Dubbo. The place we stayed at that night was at Meadow Glen, and it was a pretty good place. The place was in the outback somewhere and we were the only ones for a little while. It was the first night we used the generator, it was extremely loud. I was left alone for a little while because my mum and dad went over to another persons caravan to make new friends. After they came back we had dinner which was stir fry chicken with noodles, then we all went to bed.

Day 1:The First Night

Sean’s Outback Adventure
13/04/11
Well, it all started when we were on our way QLD and we decided to do this 6 month trip, but that’s another story. Our adventure started in Denman, the first place we stopped for the night. When we got there we got our spot and went into town. We ordered 3 chicken schnitzels and a medium chips. When we got back to the place we were staying at, we realized the van had caught onto the roof of a picnic table, so dad had to drive away very slowly. We eventually got un-stuck and went inside the caravan. Before we had dinner, dad had a surprise for mum and, AN IPAD. But then dad gave us some bad news, we only had a limited amount of time to do what we wanted to do on it that required internet because our Wi-Fi was on low battery. So I took it and downloaded like 10 games at once, mum didn’t even touch it. After that we had dinner, it was delicious.
