Day 112: Doggy Day

Today we were looking after a dog we'd met in our recent travels, but it was off to the beach early that morning. We went to the beach at just the right time because it was high tide. Were there for about an hour and I even caught a couple of waves with a bogey board.

We the went home to welcome Denis and Nola with Bonnie. When they arrived they dropped off Bonnie and we waited for Bonnie to settle in before heading down to Reddel beach for a run. When we got there we let them off and they got right into it.

However they needed specialist equipment afterwards.

On the way home Rosie had a ride in the boot and got jiggled around a little bit and we eventually got home. We practically did nothing until we left to met up with Nola and Denis so we could give Bonnie back. Unfortunately they weren't there so we went back to have dinner. Nola and Denis eventually turned up and had dinner with us before leaving and letting us go to bed.

Day 111: Arriving at Broome

We left Derby early that morning and got to the Roebuck Plains Roadhouse in about an hour. We then made it to Broome and went straight to the information centre. We found out that we don't have to stay out of town and we rang up the PCYC and sadly found out that they were booked. We also rang the Pistol Club and again sadly they didn't have anything. Finally we rang the 7th Day Adventist Church and thankfully they had something so we headed over there. When we got there we un-hooked and then went to do some exploring. Unfortunately mum had a lump and she had to go to the doctor. We first went to Cable Beach and had a little look there before heading over to the post office to get mum's lense for her camera and then we took her to the doctor.

After her check-up we went back to the van to have dinner and go to bed.

Day 110: Exploring

Today me and mum would have a day to ourselves while dad went fishing. We started off by taking dad to the wharf before going back home and doing some chores around the van. Me and mum went shopping and while we were at it we took some photos of the town.

Dad ran out of bait so we got him some more and took some photos of him fishing.
We finished off our shopping and then went home to wait for dads return. When he got home he started cooking dinner and he then dropped us off at another scout meeting. While we were at scouts dad went and took some photos of the sunset at the wharf.

At the end of the scout meeting we took a photo of mum, I and the leader, Gecko (who is actually the joey, cub, scout and group leader of 1st Derby).

It was then back home to have a good nights sleep for the big day at Broome the next day.

Day 109: Swimming with Crocs

Today we were going to go to Tunnel Creek and Windjana National Park. It took us a couple of hours to get there and we got started straight away.

Our first wade through  water didn't go to well because I went around the wrong way and I fell right in up to my neck and my bad luck continued when a small freshwater croc swam around me. Mum and dad went around the right way though.

We suddenly hit the dark and we turned on our torchs for a while.

We then came to a small place where the cave opens up into a small chasm. We then went into the next part of the cave and waded through some more water before reaching the end of this beautiful walk.
We headed back and decided to have lunch at Windjana. We got to Windjana and we started to walk the 1km walk to the river.

After our walk back to the car we had lunch and then bak to the van for a good nights sleep.

Day 108: A Fiery Tuesday

Today we were going to go to Derby. We got on the road quite late and we came across a humungous fire and because of the wind all the smoke had been blown all the way across the horizon. We eventually went through the wall of smoke and on our way to Derby. When we got to the boab prison tree we stopped to have a look. We went into town and went to the information centre. We went to the caravan park and got our spot  then went to do some fishing. By the time we'd gotten home we had dinner and went to bed.

Day 105: Rest Day

Today was another one of our rest days. We all slept in and then did some chores around the van. I then took Rosie for a walk before looking at the sign to see what the movie was that night and it was Nanny McPhee so I decided to go watch it at 5:15. It was time to watch the movie so I went over there and set myself up. After the movie I went back to the van and went to bed because I had dinner while watching the movie.

Day 101: Lake Argyle

Today we were going to Lake Argyle, the biggest body of water in Australia. When we got to the turn off that morning, we came across spillway rapids and stopped to have a look. We soon found out why everyone was stopping, it was because of the crocs on the other side.

There were also a lot of Gar Fish in there so we did a bit of fishing but they weren't interested. When we eventually made it to Lake Argyle, dad and I decided to go fishing with bait. By the end of our fishing trip we'd caught 8 catfish but unfortunately they taste really bad.

When we got home we had dinner and went to bed.

Day 98: The Katherine Show

Today we were going to the Katherine show. We went at about 12:00 and started off by going to do some rides.

We then went to check out the rodeo so we could watch some of it. When we got there they were doing drafting. It didn't take long for Leonie to arrive and we then went to this ride called the Cha Cha (it may look like in the photo that it just goes round and round but it does do that and it also goes in and out).
We then went to have a rest. Mum didn't really want to get up.

We then went back to the rodeo and they were doing dog compatitions where the dogs drove the cattle.
We then went back to the main arena and watched the V8 supercar challenge.
I was aloud to do one more ride before dusk and I chose to do Music Trip.
After that we just walked around taking photos of random things.

The bull riding was on at the rodeo arena and so we decided to go watch.
After that we just walked around doing stuff for about 2hrs then it was dusk, so I went on a ride called the Hurricane.

Then it was fireworks time. We got our spots in the main arena and the fireworks started. There were blue, green and red fireworks al over the place.

After that it was time for my final ride, The Zipper. The second most scariest ride at the show. I was tremeling at my knees when I go in that carrige.

It was then home time and definently time for bed.
